From 1995 to 2001:
- Huntsville School Funding Increased 27.5% Despite Equity
Funding and Proration.
- While State Revenues only increased 13.9%, Local Revenues
increased by 67.9%!
- During This Time, the Number of Students Decreased
by 1617.
- Funding per Pupil increased from $5258 to more than
$7183 (a 36.6% Increase).
- During This Time of Increased Funding, Huntsville
Test Scores Remained Essentially The Same.
Based on the 2002 Budget:
- Huntsville's Budget of more than $7900 per Child is
Significantly Above the Alabama Average of $5303.
- Recent Property Tax Reassessments Have Significantly
Increased Taxes Paid to Huntsville City Schools.
- The Huntsville City Schools' 2002 Budget is more than
$180,000,000 (a 10.36% Increase Over 2001)
- Total City School Funding Was NOT Cut Last
Year. 2001 Funding Actually Increased $5,000,000 Over 2000.
